MARY JOY and Miss Earth CANADA 2008/ Miss Earth Puerto Princesa 2008 Denise Garrido

Miss Earth CANADA/ ROSOTRO Productions raises funds for charitable causes and heightens awareness of environmental issues. Every year, Miss Earth CANADA winners are encouraged to use their title in doing so. In 2003, Brooke Johnston donated the money she raised to "Tanggol Kalikasan" a non-goverment organization that focuses on saving animals and nature. In 2004, Tanya Beatriz Munizaga donated her funds to a children's hospital in Manila (Hospicio de San Juan). In 2005 Katie McClure donated the money she had raised to the Kalinga Mission for Indeginous Children and Youth Development, Inc. Based in Kalinga Province, Philippines. In 2006, Riza Santos donated the money she raised for a very special girl that I had met and who needs medical attention. Her name is Mary Joy. Mary Joy comes from a very poor family and lives in a below poverty slum area. Last year, 2008, Denise Garrido also donated her prize money in winning the tittle of Miss Puerto Princesa 2008 to Mary Joy.
