Brandon’s Channing Smendziuk claimed the Miss Teen Canada-World crown 2010 on the weekend.
Saturday evening, after a week of classes and pre-show competitions, the 17-year-old rose to the top, finishing first in a field of 62 teens from across the country. Smendziuk is also an accomplished ballet performer and a student at Vincent Massey High School.
Along with winning $25,000 worth of prizes, Smendziuk also won the most promising model/actor award, which includes a scholarship and a trip to Los Angeles, and will be giving a hand to a Free the Children project in a developing nation.
She will represent Canada at the Miss World pageant at the end of August.
The Miss Teen South Manitoba winner, Souris' Kaitlan Thiessen, also attended the national competition.
She finished in the Top 20 and won the most photogenic award.
